Owned by the Forte family, headed by Sir Rocco Forte, The Balmoral was originally built by the railway 118 years ago and now provides glamorous shelter for heads of state, Hollywood celebrities and guests indulging in long-planned treats.

Filmed during an unprecedented year, at the tail end of the hotel’s multi-million pound refurbishment spearheaded by Sir Rocco’s sister Olga Polizzi, and portrayed through the work of staff members like Dutch hotel manager Rob; exquisite tea aficionado Omar; whisky expert Cameron (selling glasses of wartime whisky for £350 a dram) and housekeeping heroine Vicky, The Balmoral: An Extraordinary Year (W/T) offers viewers a privileged peek behind the stylish curtains of one of the most prestigious and historic institutions in the UK.
