In 2015, seventy five cameras were given to people attempting to migrate to Europe, to film where regular film crews can’t: on inflatable dinghies crossing from Turkey to Greece, in lorries entering the Channel Tunnel, on open trucks driven by people... smugglers across the Sahara. The result is a terrifyingly intimate yet epic portrait of the biggest story of the decade.

These are the personal stories of individuals who collectively form an unprecedented phenomenon: a million migrants arrived in Europe in 2015, from Afghanistan, Syria, Gambia, Ghana, Pakistan and Eritrea, some escaping war or persecution, others searching for an escape from poverty. All are heading for what they hope will be a better, safer, life in Europe.

Filmed over the biggest migration movement Europe has seen in 75 years, this series provides an intimate portrait of the experiences of those making the journeys and explores the real stories behind the headlines.
