Trainspotting Live is a format bringing joy and excitement, as a team of rail experts and enthusiasts revel in the tantalizing intricacies, trade secrets and true pleasures of trainspotting... live!
With presenters based across a range... of historic landmarks nationwide, expert spotters will be waiting in anticipation to catch the full range of rail stock on camera - from classic steam, to diesel locomotives, to high-speed electric and our rarest beauties - explaining how they did it and delving into the history and cultural significance of each find.
Audience participation from viewers at home is encouraged, with Tweets and pictures tracked and shared, while hosts ensure that no aspect of trainspotting goes unexplored – in the UK version, mathematician Hannah Fry broke down the mind-bending equations that go into keeping the thousands of trains on the network every day, while engineer Dick uncovered the historic hidden marvels of rail engineering. Between them – and with help from viewers and experts – every train, from most frequent to the most elusive, will be tracked and discussed during the live broadcasts.
