We build up a fascinating picture of their day-to-day existence as he meets them at home, at work, in the bars and restaurants they now hang out in, as well as on the streets where they operated, which, for some of them, were the scene of shocking acts of violence. Trevor uncovers a compelling portrait of how the shockwaves of Mafia involvement spread to affect other lives. He meets the wives and children of former high level Mob figures and through these encounters, pieces together a wider, emotionally richer, story. He discovers it may be the male family member who lives 'the life', but it is those around them who suffer the consequences.
