In a new series George Clarke discovers what is really happening in the Great British shed and uncovers a world of glorious eccentricity when he presides over this year's prestigious 'Britain's Shed Of The Year Competition'. And if you think Sheds were... just a place to keep your garden tools, maybe you should think again.

The competition is split into categories (Unique, Normal, Eco, Cabin & Summerhouse, Workshop & Studio, Garden Office, and Pub) with the winner of each group going through to the grand final, but competition is fierce.

The unique category sees a 21 foot wide replica of a tea pot (built on two floors with a staircase in the handle and a drawbridge in the spout) do battle with a shed that houses an extraordinary Titanic museum. But will either be strong enough to see off the challenge from a cinema shed with over 3,000 films on offer and a sound system better than most you'll find at your local multiplex?
The Eco category features a garden shed with an allotment built on the roof, a shed made out of 5,000 wine bottles, an egg shaped studio that the owner now plans to build hydraulic legs for so it can become mobile and finally up in Scotland, an incredible glass shed built over a pond that cost just £250 to build.

The three part series covers seven categories with four extraordinary sheds in each one - there are sheds turned into replicas of the Titanic, old amusement parks and 1950s diners, there are Elizabethan lodges, American frontier cabins and Tiki surf bar.

Trying to find an ultimate winner amongst this extraordinary range are George Clarke along with his master craftsman mate Will Hardie, designer Max McMurdo and architect Laura Jane Clarke, who travel the length and breadth of the British Isles visiting the incredible designs of sheds entered in the 2014 competition. This master design team will be previewing some of the outstanding and ingenious designs that have made the shortlist and are hoping to take home the ultimate shed prize.

This series celebrates these hidden gems with the greatest competition the world of sheds has ever known.
