Amazing Spaces spin-off meets people creating their first homes in unlikely places.
Plum Pictures is readying a spin-off of George Clarkes Amazing Spaces, in which the architect and property expert meets people finding creative ways to put a roof over their heads.
George Clarkes Amazing Spaces: First Homes will see the presenter and his long-time collaborator Will Hardie explore the situations of individuals, couples and families who, due to the housing crisis, have been driven to create homes in left-field spots, including buses, boats, former toilet blocks and tiny homes. The series will detail the transformations of the unlikely spaces into practical and life-changing domiciles.
George Clarkes Amazing Spaces: First Homes was commissioned by Clemency Green, senior commissioning editor, and Jo Street, director of commissioning, nations and regions. It is exec produced by Gill Wilson, creative director of Plum.
Green said: This series takes the much-loved Amazing Spaces formula and applies it to a subject that affects millions of people across the UK. Its inventive, timely and full of surprising solutions.
Clarke added: Were living through a time when having a home of your own feels increasingly out of reach for many people. Across this series I was lucky enough to follow the stories of some truly amazing people working hard to build their own first home for the very first time.
Its full of ambition, hope, creativity and optimism, but it also highlights why our broken housing system needs to change.
